More info

We are now presenting in Week 10, rather than Week 7.

We have to present concrete ideas and ways to help staff search the net better for example using stumbleupon or google wonder wheel.

We also need to meet once a fortnight outside of the time we meet on Wednesday mornings! We can arrange a time on Wednesday morning....

Net Safety

We also have to consider net safety and how we can teach this to our kids.

Here is a good website with links to lesson plans and other resources for your classrooms.

We will need to include this sort of stuff in our presentation in Week 7 too.

PLG Outcomes

"In a world of information overload, it is vital for students to not only find information but also determine its validity and appropriateness...Information literacy skills will demystify the process of finding and validating online information. These vital skills are needed as students prepare for our global economy." Alan November

Purpose: The purpose of this group is to teach adults and students to search the internet efficiently and safely with the goal of becoming information literate and effective digital citizens. This will include net safety and finding tricks and tips for using the internet in the best possible way.

The expected outcomes by the end of the year are:

- the group have learned and shared tips and tricks with staff on effective ways to search the internet
- confident classroom teachers will have trialled these tips and tricks with their students and fed back what works
- the group will have upskilled staff in net safety and have checked guidelines and procedures are up to date.

Presentation to staff

We will be presenting to staff in Week 7, so we have a bit of time to come up with more tricks and tips for searching the internet.
